Memorex Emerges as the Number One Brand of Double-Layer DVD Media

Memorex once again maintained its position as the number one provider of digital media by capturing nearly three-quarters of all Double-Layer DVD media sales for April. Memorex garnered a massive 73 percent of Double-Layer DVD media unit sales, a 40 percent increase in unit share from March. As a result, Memorex propels to the top of Double-Layer DVD media sales year-to-date, with more than 50 percent market share.

Sales of Memorex Double-Layer DVD+R DL discs in April alone account for more than half of all Double-Layer discs sold during the first four months of 2005, according to The NPD Group, a leader in market intelligence. NPD, an independent market analysis firm, tracks point-of-sale information by volume and dollar sales to determine how well products are selling in the nation's top retailers.
