Action Duplication Triples Capacity for DVD Manufacturing
Posted Jun 16, 2005

Action Duplication, Inc., a manufacturer of DVD, CD, and VHS cassettes with plants in the Philadelphia and Baltimore areas, has announced the addition of new high speed M2 DVD molding line to increase the facility's output to 36,000 DVD-5 or DVD-9 discs per day. The equipment and plant upgrade cost $1.5 million.

The added capacity came in handy when the U.S. Department of Labor needed to replicate Up From Zero, a commemorative DVD honoring the rescue workers who excavated and rebuilt Ground Zero after the 9/11 disaster. Up From Zero was distributed via the Department of Labor Web site--and as word about the availability of the free title spread over the Internet, orders for the DVD far exceeded initial expectations. More than 200,000 copies of the title were replicated in a series of orders and re-orders before the program was ended.

Action Duplication has a facility in Ijamsville, MD, which serves the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. Their primary manufacturing plant is in Conshohocken, PA, just outside of Philadelphia.
