Sonic Solutions, a leader in digital media software, today announced that its AuthorScript Video DVD creation engine has been selected by Pure Digital Technologies, Inc., for use in its new one-time-use digital video camcorder platform. The new, affordable digital video camcorders, developed by Pure Digital Technologies and marketed under individual retail store brands, are currently available at more than 6,000 CVS/pharmacy and Rite Aid stores nationwide, with additional expansion expected with other major U.S. retail chains.

The sub-$30, five-ounce pocket-sized Pure Digital Technologies one-time-use digital video camcorders record up to 20 minutes of digital video on internal memory. They offer consumers an easy-to-use and convenient way to capture high-quality digital video without investing hundreds of dollars in a conventional video camera. After shooting their video, consumers return the camera to the store where Pure Digital's proprietary video processing platform formats the content and burns a high-quality DVD utilizing Sonic's AuthorScript Video technology.
