Home Movie Depot Announces Home Movies-to-DVD Converter
Posted Nov 12, 2004

Home Movie Depot will introduce its new home movie conversion technology at the 14th annual conference of the Association of Moving Image Archivists. The new technology features an 8mm movie projector that allows for light enhancement and frame-by-frame digitization of 8mm and Super 8 movie film. The projector offers improved control of light, film speed, and optical clarity in the process of transferring home movies to DVD, the company claims.

The new projector casts each frame of the film into a special 3CCD imaging camera while adjusting for light. The process synchronizes the mechanical film frames with a real-time video signal to create a true moving image. The imagery is then digitally processed and stored on a computer hard drive. Before burning the stored movie onto a DVD, Home Movie Depot allows online preview of movies.
