Sony Electronics announced the integration of the ViXS Systems MIPS-Based video processor into Sony's new Vaio Desktop PC and Media Server products. Currently available in Japan, these products can capture large volumes of TV content and record video to DVD.
Ulead announced a partnership with ViXS Systems to deliver software and hardware solutions that will enable advanced multimedia recording functions on the PC. Ulead's InstaMedia digital home theater, DVD MovieFactory 3 DVD authoring, and VideoStudio 8 video editing software will leverage ViXS' MIPS-Based XCode II video processor for high-speed MPEG transrating and transcoding.

Sigma launched the SMP8630 chipset series, the first MIPS-Based all-format secure media processor to integrate support of high-definition (HD) decoding in all major formats including H.264, WMV9/VC-1, and MPEG-2. The series will target the IPTV, High Definition DVD, and other consumer electronics products.
