CenDyne External 4X DVD Recorder Connects Quickly to PCs

CenDyne will expand its popular line of 4X DVD-R/RW drives with a new external drive with a USB 2.0/FireWire interface. The external DVD recorder connects quickly and easily to a USB or FireWire port on a PC. The new drive comes with easy-to-use software for recording any type of video, photography, music or data onto DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R and CD-RW media.

The fast, highly reliable new drives are compatible with most DVD movie players and other DVD burners - so movies and data burned using these drives can be shared with friends and family. The fifth-generation drive writes to DVD-R media at 4X speed, rewrites at 2X and reads DVD-ROM data at 12X max.

The new CenDyne 4X External DVD Recorder comes with easy-to-use Sonic™ MyDVD 4™ DVD authoring and recording software that allows consumers to archive their digital video home movies or create their own movies and burn them onto DVD media. The MyDVD software lets users capture video clips, transfer video, create and edit movies, add titles and other effects to movies and video, and burn images to a disc quickly and easily.

The CenDyne 4X DVD Recorder (model number CDI CD00224) will be available by April 15, 2003 at a suggested retail price of $349 at leading computer and consumer electronics retailers.

EVS and DNF Controls Team Up to Provide Slow-Motion Controller for EVS maXS Video Server

EVS Broadcast Equipment and DNF Controls have teamed up to offer broadcast facilities a new slow-motion controller for the EVS maXS network-based video server. DNF Controls' ST300-EVS allows EVS maXS users to make a smooth transition to a tapeless environment, using the maXS like a VTR for slow-motion instant replay, clip creation, and playback.

The maXS can be networked with EVS' four- or six-channel XT LSM, allowing users to access the clip library and the record train of the networked maXS from any XT within the network. DNF Controls' ST300-EVS Slow Motion Controller provides easy, affordable control in a compact, space-saving unit designed for demanding sports production. Operators have access to full-time association with record and playback channels in addition to support for clip creation and playback. Operators also can easily customize the ST300-EVS' features for their particular applications using the ST300's setup menu.

Both DNF Controls and EVS will be showcasing the ST300-EVS and maXS at their booths during the NAB2003 exhibition, April 7-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Clarity Introduces its Next Generation AP/LCD Display Product

Clarity Visual Systems has introduced Puma, the next generation of displays based on its Advance Performance Liquid Crystal Display technology. Puma is a 50-inch display family with differing resolutions, lamp configurations and screen options. Puma currently includes three models, ranging in price from approxiimately $15,000 to $22,000. The units all offer exceptional image quality and reliability, making them ideally suited for use in mission-critical applications such as command and control or data visualization.

Puma uses Clarity's new "XP" optical architecture, which uses a dual lamp engine for redundancy and takes advantage of a new color LCD panel that provides improved color saturation. It also supports Clarity's new ColorPlus option, which further enhances color capability and aligns the AP/LCD technology with the European Broadcast Union color performance standard. Puma's two-lamp optical engine is based on two 200-watt high-pressure mercury vapor bulbs to enable high brightness and reliability; the display will continue to function should one lamp fail.
